Well, I have a nice yarn for you. Me and my wife where roughing it at about the 9,000 foot level on Mt. Biggie, and the snow had been drifting down for the last few days pretty bad. There was already about 2 and a half feet there when we got there. It quit for approximately 3 or 4 hours that evening, almost nice timing for us to get everything built up to rest for the weekend.
I had brought my Jeep 4×4, so there would not be any hang ups with the snow. So, we fell asleep that day to snow fall, and in the middle of the night, we were woke up to our covering falling on us.
Plainly we had not planned for that amount of snow fall. I got up, and prepared to look around for anything to help us, when I looked over and thought my truck. Yep, that’s the fixer. The pickup bed covers. My wife stayed below the fallen tent, till I cleared out the bed of the truck. I hoisted the truck bed cover and moved the tube I had back there out onto the ground, cleaned the floor off, and laid some covers down. We moved into our new room and went back to sleep.
In the morning we got up to over five feet of snow and a wonderful clear day. We began a fire, had some coffee, and ate breakfast. Truthfully, the back of my truck was much more comfortable than the tent. We liked it so much, we stayed another two nights and it was wonderful! Thank goodness for our truck bed covers.
