Look Up a Person’s Military Records

The need for military background check generally arises when the person claims to have worked in military or otherwise you can also easily check using free online databases whether the candidate has ever been a part of military services. Finding a persons records don’t have to be hard, you can easily search public records online. Similarly there can be many more reasons for performing a military background check on anybody. Thus, a thorough military background check will help you to get the details about that individual.

This will also help in the character verification of the candidate however it has its own loopholes as you are taking the reference from the candidate himself. If you want you can start at these two states North Carolina background checks and search North Dakota criminal records. These places can provide the records that are needed to confirm and verify the information that has been provided by the applicant.

In the US Military background checks are considered to be a public property which can be accessed by one and all once you submit a written application to access the same stating your requirements. Details of both veterans and soldiers who are currently serving the military are available online which can be really helpful in military background checks.

SoCal Amusement Parks Offering Cool Thrill Rides

There is no place better vacation destination than Southern California if you are a lover of thrill rides. In fact, two of the coolest theme parks for coaster enthusiasts can be found in the Los Angeles area. No, Disneyland is not one of them, although it (and its adjacent sister park Disney’s California Adventure) does offer some exciting action rides worthy of a visit.

The two parks that come to mind when speaking of roller coasters are Six Flags Magic Mountain and Knott’s Berry Farm According to the SoCal Vacation Guru website, these parks have made roller coasters a strong priority in competing against The Mouse.

You won’t find any place with more edgy thrill rides and coasters than Six Flags Magic Mountain. Of course some in your group may not be roller coaster fanatics, and there are many other rides and activities to be enjoyed, as you can learn at the SoCal Guru website.

Knott’s Berry Farm also has really focused on thrill rides, although they offer Camp Snoopy, Ghost Town and many other fun attractions and themed areas within the park. We have talked to employees who can confirm that several of the roller coasters at Knott’s will push you to the limit of comfort.

Speaking of dinner, if you go to Knott’s, don’t forget to allow time to eat at Mrs. Knott’s Chicken Dinner Restaurant. For like 70 years or more this establishment has been delighting tens of thousands of diners with down-home cooking. You’ll find useful information, tips and recommendations for enjoying Knott’s Berry Farm at the SoCal Guru site. The site covers hotels near the park, and provides useful information about other theme parks and vacation opportunities in SoCal.

No doubt you are aware that there are other great parks nearby, and you can find useful information at the Guru website. You’ll find some fun thrill rides at other parks, but they don’t stack up to what they offer at Six Flags Magic Mountain. I hope this is helpful if you love coasters!

An approach to Marketing Communications in a Flat Market

Introduction We’ve all seen the media frenzy over the banking fiasco, the so named “credit crunch” and job losses as companies panic. In talking with clients and customers it’s becoming quite clear that there is a need for business as usual. Products still need to be made, distributed and sold and services commissioned.

The car industry has seen a massive drop in sales but just watch any commercial TV station, have the ads disappeared, no, has your favourite newspaper or magazine disappeared from the shelves, the answer is probably no.

In our experience there is much business out there and buyers want to deal with positive and enthusiastic people. Cutting back on marketing budgets is not good for your business and the wider economy. Keeping your brand in the public eye is paramount. Adopting hermit strategies and falling back on old campaigns and images only dates your identity and makes you less visible. Just take a look near Christmas time, at a certain men’s aftershave featuring a man and the ocean. It’s been recycled for the last ten years as I can remember.

Ask you self this question; “Who would you rather do business with, a positive, enthusiastic company that seeks the opportunities or one with its head buried in the sand crying credit crunch?”

Recycling is the buzz word of this decade but not when it comes to marketing communications , your brand image or customer communications, these need to stay fresh and up to date. The same applies internally with your employees, keeping them motivated with a positive outlook reflects in how they deal with customers. People buy from people and they come back to happy helpful people.

So before you all reach for the sick bucket or discard this as pure puff, remember it’s about having a balanced view but on the optimistic side of the fence.

The Detail behind It So lets take a few of the messages raised in the introduction and look at these in more detail.

Media Frenzy We see this so often over something that could be described as trivial. Just look at the pandemic swine flu story, breaking it back to the real world, a girl went on holiday and came back with a bit of a runny nose!

Within just a few hours of media interest in a story you can be the biggest thing from Boston to Budapest, all caught high def, colour corrected, computer enhanced. But what many news items lack, is depth and realism, it’s easy to whip up a panic or over reaction to an event, it’s harder to take a balanced view and report the facts, why, because that takes time, creativity, but is less interesting and doesn’t sell newspapers or generate viewer ratings and we site page views.

The press can be your friend or you foe – it all depends on if it’s a slow news day and what side of bed they got out of!

Take the banking fiasco as already mentioned, if this had been covered more neutrally then less banks, local authorities, businesses and home owners would have lost out . Fewer jobs would have been lost as less panic and knee jerk reactions created as companies laid off thousands of staff amid a banking freeze on loans and credit. All of which were perfectly acceptable the day before!

In terms of a company’s marketing communications then the media has a lot to answer for, it can make or break an economy, drive a share price higher or lower. As they say in the City “buy on fact sell on rumour!”

Layoffs and Panic Leading to Motivated Staff?

Well that would be great wouldn’t it? Well taking into account what has been said so far, lets take a look at two set ups, the panic company and the realistic company.

The Panic Company

Reads the newspapers and lays off all un-required staff – well un-required in their opinion, so they remove the temps, operations and marketing all seen as an unnecessary balance sheet item. Sounds good to a Financial Director. Wrong. Now you have no market presence, no new campaigns and no new customers and because you sacked operations, no one to do the work!

The Realistic Company

This company looks at its sales, balance sheet and order book. Gathers its employees and makes a statement – no layoffs if we can maintain our current position. What the directors say no growth, what about my bonus! Well they are just that, bonuses not guarantees. This is where maintaining a market presence and sales in an economic decline should be considered as growth! Alien concept – no it shouldn’t be because your company is not going backwards like everyone else’s. With the competition cutting back and you maintaining presence and sales you gain market share – just by doing the same thing you did last week with the same team of people.

This company then communicates with its employees and motivates them to look for opportunities, the ways to maintain sales, retain customers and to seek the sales and to deliver the service. Other companies will not, because they are panicking, laying off staff and failing to deliver on service. Their staff will be distracted, worrying about redundancy and are unfocused on the job, that or they just will not care.

Strategy

Hermit strategies leading to budget cut backs again are based on panic reactions to a change in market conditions. Companies need to start being led by marketing and market conditions, not by accountants that only have historic information to base decisions upon. Sets of management accounts fail to deliver market opportunities and don’t motivate staff to go that bit further to look after an existing customer.

Now is the time to make use of the panic and cut backs your competitors are making and to raise your presence in the market place. Crawling under a rock and hoping it’ll get better just means people lose interest in you. Your competitors are concentrating on something else, now is the time to make a move. There is also another key opportunity, a market full of skilled people looking for work – you could gain some key assets, a time to change out some dull pennies and gain a shiny new 5p!

Marketing

So in any given market place how does a company become less visible? Any good marketing communications consultant will tell you that this can happen in two ways through less Marketing and PR and less customer communication.

People still read newspapers and magazines; it’s one of the last cut backs they make, their favourite read. This is where a well thought out PR strategy can work and it’s cheaper than display advertising and if you can do it in house – it’s essentially free.

Businesses still visit websites – so keep them up to date with fresh content and images. Find information that your customers would need or be interested in.

Direct Mail has for a long time featured less, due to the low response rates. How does 98% wastage sound when you try and justify the cost? Well targeted small campaigns can give 12 – 20% response in my experience. Some of this has transferred online but as the public have got fed up with Junk Mail, so too have they started to shy away from an over full Inbox. Subscription based newsletters are one way to build both customer and prospective customer awareness of your organisation.

There are of course other tactics like sponsorship but measuring the response and attributing it to direct sales becomes more difficult. Exhibitions and trade shows used to do well, but with more sellers selling to you and less footfall from the buyers, picking the right event is paramount .

Internal Communications

Internal communications is in some firms far from the agenda of the board room table; in others it is fully integrated into the organisation and embellished with the drive and determination of top management so that it succeeds. Good internal communications strategy and implementation motivates work forces and generates clear, useful communication to drive the company forward and ensures all employees take ownership of the positive side of honest communication of both opportunities for improvement and praise of fellow workers. Employees need to know what direction an organisation is heading in, where their individual and team roles fit in and what they have to do in order to achieve the goals set. People will put every effort into advancing the business if they can communicate their ideas.

So what do Internal Communications strategies look to achieve , well with many organisations it is the desire to further the quality standards needed in the business environment and to transpose that need internally towards its employees. With others, it is driven by the speed at which the business environment is changing and hence the need for the firm to change. In this case good internal communication is delivered through a company vision and a change in focus toward face to face or more personal communication.

In order to achieve this, a firm must understand several aspects to the organisation. It is necessary to understand the environment of the employees and what likely influences there are. These factors that influence employees include line management, immediate workers and any subordinates. As well as their own set of values, but also, those of their colleagues that surround them in the working environment. The key points of influence are, and always have been, our own co-workers. Peers influence more than managers influence subordinates. Added to this are the issues of culture and the sub culture of the company. Politics play a part as does the management style. In all a complex set of variables are at play.

The communication environment is conceptualised via the modification of the concept of communication taken from the Chartered Institute of Marketing. The author has developed this concept to include the environment of the employee.

If the firm understands the environment of the employee then it can use the best methods to get information to each person.

The second aspect the organisation needs to understand are the perceptions of the employees concerning the information they receive. If the company understands this aspect as well, then it will know what information is best received. Hence an appreciation of these two aspects will indicate whether or not an Internal Communications strategy is working. Management is then in a position to either continue or change its strategy.

The importance of this article is to bring to the fore the need for organisation to appreciate these two key aspects of the organisation and then to plan an Internal Communications strategy that works.

Sports Cars

Who is not impressed by a fancy sports car? Firebirds, Mustangs, Chargers, Corvettes and Porsches are common sports cars that everyone young and old long to have. The problem is many people have been out of the loop for some time when they finally get to a place they can purchase one. Below are 3 handy tips to help you along the way if you have decided to buy a sports car.

1. New – This is really a matter of taste and finances, however each has its pros and cons. If you can afford a new sports car, choose one that has been in production a few years and has a proven track record. The introduction of a car for instance like the new Challenger might not be the best time to purchase one. Wait a couple of years and monitor consumer feedback for reports of lemons or serious problems.

2. Used- There are several issues to think about when considering a used sports car. The first thing you should understand is that sports cars inspire many people to drive, really fast! A young driver is especially prone to “rodding” a sports car with little thought to the damage. If a sports cars interior is in tatters it is a good indication the rest of the car is as well. This is a genre of car you would definitely want a car fax history report on.

3. Insurance- Buying a sports car can be thrilling, particularly if you have waited years for the opportunity. However, you should remember that a sports car would cost you more than the monthly payment! Insuring a sports car can be quite expensive and if you have a teen driver in the house you better be packing some serious cash!

Sports cars are flashy, fun and expensive! Sliding behind the wheel of one of these babies will give you a whole new attitude. Just be sure you have done your homework and considered the tips above before making the purchase.

Sweden’s Lake Maiaren Islands

Lake Malaren is one of the largest lakes in Sweden, located near the city of Stockholm. The lake’s area is 1,140 square km and its greatest depth is 64 metres. Its numerous islands contain an incredibly rich heritage, a beautiful lush historical landscape with palaces, old churches, rune stones, forty castles, and two World Heritage Sites , the Palace of Drottningholm on the island of Lovo and the Viking sites of Birka on Bjorkb and HovgArden on Adelso.

The Royal domain of Drottningliolm with its Chinese pavilion, timber theatre, and Baroque gardens is a stunning 17th century palace complex, modeled on Versailles and set in the pastoral landscape of Lovo. Birka, Sweden’s most ancient city, and one of its most famous historic monuments, is situated on Bjorko, an island that today has a romantic, desolate air about it.

Birka was founded at the end of the 8th century and for nearly 200 years was at the centre of European commerce In the late tenth century the build up of sediment made the lake too shallow for ships to navigate and the city was deserted.

Hovgarden, the kings farm on the neighbouring island of Adelso, remained in use until the late Middle Ages. Today these lovely islands are beautiful places in which to walk and ride as well as see the incredibly well preserved Viking ruins.

The landscape of Lake Malaren was formed at the end of the lee Age when the land started to rise as a result of the gradual melting of the ice-cap lifting the tons of pressure that had been bearing down on it.

Quite apart from the cultural heritage contained in these islands, the moraine ridges and lush valleys are scenically lovely. They include rolling farmland dotted with oak trees, pine forest on cragy hills, and trees and grasses growing right down to the waterline.

The Child Protection Service (CPS) and the Family

The Child Protection Service (CPS) has two basic plans for managing child protection issues and they are the immediate protective strategy, or plan, and the formal plan of continued safety. When a child is in immediate danger, which is something that is usually recognized during the first meeting or contact with a family, CPS puts the immediate protection strategy into place. After the danger has been acknowledged, they place a hold on all of the different activities that take place during an intervention, such as the initial assessment, in order to guarantee immediate protection for the child. When the immediate danger has been acknowledged, CPS has the responsibility of ensuring the child’s safety during the remaining intervention activities. Naturally, an immediate plan should contain certain documentation and elements and the abuse report should reflect those elements.

The formal safety strategy will usually happen during or at the end of the first assessment, after all of the pertinent family information has been taken and analyzed. This formal plan is written on a document and it helps to recognize any foreseeable dangers; it lists child safety products, services and childcare providers.

The major difference between the two strategies is that the immediate protective one is put into place based on a limited amount of information that was gathered at the initial encounter. Whereas, the formal child protection plan is put into place by gathering full and complete information about the child and family.

Some feel that there should be additional provisions added to the ones already in use. They believe that safety care management and intervention should be provisional; that it should refer to specific actions and arrangements that CPS may take at the present time based upon current threats to the child’s safety, or if there is not a sufficient childcare provider available to ensure protection.

In this type of arrangement, the provisional means of caring for the child would stay in place, while searching for a better permanent arrangement. According to some at the Child Protection Service, this would entail giving protective responsibility to child care providers with child protection training. Or, they may explore different permanency options outside of the child’s home and family.

In Search Of Frightening Annual Flowers

The various flowers that bloom in the different seasons can inform us what season we are in. You will find that many of these flowers are excellent choices for the garden as they can be grown in the different seasons. When you start selecting your annual flowers you can buy hardy annuals, half hardy annuals and tender annuals.

Unlike other annuals these hardy annual flowers don’t like hot weather as they are not heat tolerant. This is similar to tropical. The types of hardy annual flowers that you can buy include calendula, foxglove, viola, sweet alyssum, stocks, cornflowers, pansy, larkspur and the many varieties of dianthus cultivars.

These half hardy annuals don’t mind damp cold weather but they can’t live during the cold harsh months of winter. While some flower species can’t tolerate lots of hot summer weather the half hardy annuals may sometimes droop for the weather but they will perk up in the later summer months. These annuals as their name suggests are not comfortable in the cold winter months so the ideal time to grow them is three weeks after the last spring frost.

These reading materials can be thought of as non-fictional and fictional forms of reading matter. For this reason DC comics released the Batman comics as a separate comic book title in 1940.

To make the character more realistic Batman Comics showed Batman fighting his enemies as a vigilante using only his fighting skills, his strength and his intellect. Unlike the other superheroes Batman was not given any super powers or special abilities. This is just like comic book. To make batman’s character seem more human the creators of the series later added other characters to the Batman comics.

The various villains who appear in the Batman comics are also well known. The various Batman movies that many of us have seen are a testament to the popularity of this superhero and the ever growing legion of Batman fans.

Combining the best of modern technology with the sleek lines of tried and tested cars from the past, concept cars are often tentative feelers put out by automobile companies to test the waters before ‘diving’ into serious production. This gained almost instant popularity with the general public. Recognizing a winning horse when they saw one, General Motors further publicized the concept and their car, through its touring Motorama shows of that period.

In fact many concept cars never even reach this stage due to impractical design glitches and cost factors. This is similar to trucks. An interesting example of an old, operational concept car being brought back into service would be the 1954 Ford Lincoln Futura, which after having been stored in the North Hollywood car shop of George Barris came out of storage to rise to stardom as the Batmobile of the 1966 Batman series on the ABC Television Network.

On the same note, current examples for concept cars would be the Mercedes-Benz bionic car (this is said to combine the best of nature, technology and the ever popular DaimlerCrysler engine), the 2006 BMW Mille Miglia concept coupe (based on the earlier BMW 328 Touring coupe and the BMW Z4 M coupe), the Camaro Concept sports coupe (which follows the lines of the first Camaros) and the Chrysler Imperial Concept 2006 (a direct descendent of classic Imperial and Chrysler designs). However, some do escape the crusher and continue to live their lives in storage or on display in automobile museums.

Why the Outcome of Department of Health’s Consultation in September Could Boost 03 Numbers in the NHS

In September 2009 it is expected that the Department of Health will announce the results of its consultation into the use of 084 numbers in the NHS. The consultation ran between December 2008 and March 2009 and asked members of the public and key stakeholders whether the use of 084 numbers (e.g. 0844 numbers) should be prohibited for all NHS services. The primary concern being the cost for patients to call these services – particularly from a mobile phone.

Many GP practices, pharmacies, Primary Care Trusts (PCTs) and opticians currently use 084 numbers as they offer them improved call features like caller queuing and options for patients to ensure they get through to the right department (e.g. press 1 for appointments, press 2 to speak to a nurse etc.) Should the outcome mean that the 084 numbers in the NHS are banned, the natural alternative (and the one that is advocated by the Department of Health) are 0300 numbers.

0300 numbers are exclusively for the public sector and offer exactly the same benefits as 084 numbers. The crucial difference however, is the cost to call them; 0300 numbers cost the same to call as regular landlines – even from a mobile phone. This is important when 44.5% of all UK calls are now made from mobile phones (Ofcom 2009). It’s for these reasons that 0300 numbers are already being used by many NHS organisations including the National Blood Service, Wiltshire Medical Services, South Staffordshire PCT and NHS Change4Life.

Here are 5 more reasons why 0300 numbers are ideal for NHS services:

1. They meet the needs of the public as they cost the same to call as 01/02 numbers – even from a mobile. 0300 numbers are also included in the free minutes offered by mobile and landline networks.

2. The public trust 0300 numbers as they are exclusively for public sector organisations.

3. Organisations can welcome their callers with introduction messages and recorded announcements which can be changed as and when required. For example, during a public health threat (e.g. swine flu) a doctors surgery can ensure that patients hear a pre-recorded message about the symptoms of swine flu when they call, in order for the pressure to be taken off their resources.

4. Callers can be queued during busy periods meaning that all important calls will be answered.

5. It’s possible to record calls to 0300 numbers.

The outcome of the public consultation will be interesting and for NHS organisations that rely on the functions of their telephone numbers, then 0300 numbers will provide a viable alternative if they should choose to rule out 084 numbers in the NHS.

Javea – An Emerald in The Med

Javea is a coastal town, in the province of Alicante. It sits behind a bay between two rocky headlands, Cabo San Antonio and Cabo La Nao. Surrounded by orange, lemon and olive groves. The town is dominated by the Montgo peak, 753 metres high, declared a Natural Park in 1997. Javea has many aprtments and villas for sale at the moment. ( or as the Spanish would say, Apartamentos en Venta en Javea )

Montgo protects Javea from harsh north winds and it enjoys a micro-climate said to be one of the healthiest in the world. There are more recorded hours of sunshine than anywhere else in Spain making it popular with tourists and ex-pats alike. Which is why there are so many Villas For Sale in Javea ( Chalets en venta en Javea ). There is a population of about 32,000 people which swells to around 100,000 in the summer months.

Javea lies midway between the cities of Alicante and Valencia, which both have international airports and has good road connections to both via the N332  A road or the A7 motorway. There is also a regular bus service to the two cities as well as a daily service to Madrid. The nearest railway station is Gata de Gorgos, a ten minute drive away, with a regular service to Alicante.

Javea can be split into three distinct parts, all with properties for sale ( Propiedades en venta en Javea ):

The Old Town: once a walled and fortified town to protect it from pirates stone crosses now mark the original gates in three locations. In the centre of the town is the impressive church of Sant Bartolome which dates back to the 14th century although some of the structure may go back as far as the 11th century. The church suffered significant damage during the Spanish Civil War and shell and bullet holes can still be seen in some walls today.

There is an indoor market built in 1946 selling fruit, vegetables, meat and locally caught fish.

There is also a local museum, “Museo Historico y Etnografico Municipal J.B.Soler Blasco Javea”, which shows the history of Javea and can be visited between the hours of 10.00-13.00 and 17.00-20.00 and 10.00-13.00 weekends and bank holidays, but it is closed on Mondays.

The Port: popular with tourists due to its bars, restaurants, safe gravel beach and marina. The first jetty was built in 1871 and was important in the export of raisins. When the raisin trade collapsed at the end of the 19th century it became a fishing harbour which is how it remains today. There is also the landmark church “Nuestra Señora de Loreto” built in 1967, in the shape of a fishing boat going through the waves.

The Arenal:a wide beach of white sand with a promenade, bars and restaurants. There is an outdoor craft market during the summer as well as sand artists and street entertainers. There is also a Parador Hotel behind which once stood the “Punta del Arenal” a Roman settlement. On the other end of the bay once stood the Fontana Castle whose canons can still be seen outside the Sant Bartolome church in the old town.

Market day is on Thursday except when it is a bank holiday. There are three local fiestas, San Juan in June, Moors and Christians in July and Nuestra Señora de Loreto in September.

There is a large range of rental centres and shops catering to a wide range of activities including cycling, diving, fishing, golf, horse riding, sailing and hiking.
